FoxTrack vs Stocksmith (Craftybase) for 3D printed products
October 6, 2026 · Caleb Ellis
What Stocksmith is for
Stocksmith, which was called Craftybase, is inventory and cost-of-goods software for small product makers of every kind, 3D prints included. It has been around since 2013 and says it serves more than 10,000 product businesses, such as cosmetics brands, food producers and bakeries. It is built for makers who turn bought materials into products and sell them online. The facts here come from its own website, including its Craftybase 3D printing page, read on 25 September 2026. We build FoxTrack, so keep that in mind.
- It keeps inventory and bills of materials for materials, components and finished goods.
- It works out cost of goods, so you know what each product costs to make.
- It syncs stores with Etsy, Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce, Faire, Square, Wix and Squarespace.
- It links to QuickBooks and Xero for accounting.
- Its page for 3D printing says it tracks filament by type, color and weight remaining, and works out what a print costs from filament, electricity and labour.
Its pricing page lists paid plans with a 14-day free trial, and its lowest plan connects one sales channel. We found no free plan, no connection to printers, no maintenance schedules and no quotes on its site.
What FoxTrack is for
FoxTrack is built only for 3D printing. It starts from the print room and builds out to the business:
- Printers carry their power draw, machine cost and lifespan, so a quote can include electricity and wear per print hour.
- Filament spools carry their remaining weight and are grouped under a catalog of the filament types you buy.
- Products have variants and a bill of materials. Saving an order takes filament off the spools for products you make to order, and finished items off the shelf for products you sell from stock.
- Stock is kept per sales channel, with replenishment runs that move stock from your default stock pool to a market stall, a shop-in-shop or an online store.
- Quotes and invoices cover custom jobs, alongside customers, expenses and reports.
- Maintenance schedules run per printer, by print hours or by days.
- Live printer status for Klipper, Bambu Lab and Prusa printers (and Home Assistant, status only) comes through FoxTrack Bridge, a small agent on your shop network.
- Shopify, Etsy and WooCommerce orders sync on the Farm plan. The sync is new and marked Beta.
Where Stocksmith is stronger
- Stocksmith is built for any material. If your shop also sells things that are not printed, Stocksmith is built for any material, while FoxTrack is shaped around filament and printers.
- Stocksmith has been around since 2013 and says more than 10,000 businesses use it. FoxTrack's store sync opened in September 2026 and is still marked Beta.
- Stocksmith lists eight store integrations plus QuickBooks and Xero. FoxTrack syncs Shopify, Etsy and WooCommerce and has no QuickBooks or Xero link.
- Cost of goods is Stocksmith's core. If your accountant asks for cost of goods in detail, start there.
Where FoxTrack is stronger
- Printers, maintenance schedules and live status sit next to the orders they print. We found none of these on Stocksmith's site.
- Quotes turn into orders in one step, and orders or quotes into invoices, for one-off work as well as catalog products. We found no quotes on Stocksmith's site.
- FoxTrack has a free plan to try with real orders before you pay. Stocksmith offers a 14-day free trial instead.
To decide, try your top product in both: set up its bill of materials, take one order and see which tool shows the cost and the stock the way you think about them.
We cover filament in how to track filament stock without a spreadsheet. FoxTrack's plans are on our pricing page.
Questions
Is Stocksmith the same as Craftybase?
Yes. Stocksmith's site says Craftybase is now Stocksmith: the same team and the same software, with a new name.
Does Stocksmith track filament?
Yes. Its 3D printing page says it tracks filament by type, color and weight remaining. We found no connection to printers.
Does FoxTrack work for products that are not 3D printed?
Partly. You can list any product and any inventory item, such as magnets, inserts and boxes, and put them in a bill of materials. But the costing, printers and filament tracking assume most of what you sell is printed.
FoxTrack is not affiliated with Stocksmith or Craftybase, and those names are their owners' trademarks. If something here is wrong, email info@foxtrack.studio and we will fix it.
