3D print farm software compared: which tool does which job

October 8, 2026 · Caleb Ellis

Most "print farm software" is built for one of four jobs: running the printers, running the shop, quoting customers who upload a model, or tracking inventory for makers in general. Find the job that costs you the most time, pick the tool built for it, and only then look at what else it covers.

We build FoxTrack, one of the tools below. We checked every other tool on its own website on 25 September 2026. This market moves fast, so check anything that decides your choice.

Job 1: run the printers

These tools send jobs to printers, queue them and watch them print.

  • SimplyPrint: cloud slicing, a print queue, monitoring and fleet control. It says it works with more than 130 printer brands, it tracks filament, and its API can feed Etsy, Shopify or ShipStation orders into the queue. We found no quotes or invoices.
  • Printago: takes Shopify and Etsy orders, and since September 2026 eBay and WooCommerce orders, then slices them in the cloud and routes them to printers. It also tracks finished product stock. Its free plan has unlimited printers and one job running at a time.
  • Bambu Farm Manager: Bambu Lab's own free software for running a fleet of Bambu Lab printers over your local network, with monitoring, a job queue and batch control. We found no order or pricing features.

If you spend your day slicing and starting prints, start here.

Job 2: run the shop

These tools keep the orders, customers, quotes, invoices and stock.

  • FoxTrack: orders, customers, quotes, invoices, filament spools, products with bills of materials, stock per sales channel, expenses, maintenance and reports. Shopify, Etsy and WooCommerce orders sync on the Farm plan (marked Beta). FoxTrack Bridge shows live status for Klipper and Bambu Lab printers and can send them a file you sliced yourself. FoxTrack does not slice.
  • Printforge: works out a price from an STL or G-code file, then quotes, invoices and tracks the job. It has a client database, a job board, material stock and a widget where your customers upload an STL, get a price and pay. Shopify sync is on its top plan.
  • 3D Print Manager: filament, costs and print job scheduling. Its top plan adds WooCommerce and PrestaShop orders as work orders, plus quote and invoice documents. Its printer link is an optional Home Assistant integration.
  • Prinate: costing, materials inventory, customers, quotes and invoices. On 25 September 2026 its paid plan was not yet taking payments, and orders, a production queue and Etsy and Shopify sync were on its roadmap.

Job 3: quote customers who upload a model

These tools give your customers a price when they upload a file.

  • Layers: a customer portal where your customers upload a 3D model, get a price and place an order, with order management and production tools behind it. Aimed at 3D printing service providers.
  • DigiFabster: instant quotes and online checkout for custom manufacturing: 3D printing, CNC and sheet metal. It charges a percentage fee on each order as well as its plan price.

Job 4: track inventory for makers in general

  • Stocksmith (formerly Craftybase): inventory, bills of materials and cost of goods for makers of every kind, synced with Etsy, Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce and more, with QuickBooks and Xero links. We found no printer connection. We compared it with FoxTrack in FoxTrack vs Stocksmith.

How to choose

  1. Time one normal week. Split your hours into printers, shop admin, custom quoting and stock.
  2. Start with the job that took the most hours, and shortlist only the tools in that group.
  3. Check your printers. Printer tools differ in which brands they support. FoxTrack Bridge covers Klipper, Bambu Lab and Prusa (PrusaLink), plus Home Assistant for status only.
  4. Check your sales channels. Not every tool syncs every store. eBay, PrestaShop and WooCommerce support vary the most.
  5. Decide whether you need two tools. A printer tool and a shop tool can run side by side. We found no links between the two kinds, so orders reach each one separately.
  6. Try the top one or two with real orders for a week. Most of these tools have a free plan.

Questions

What is the best software for a small 3D print farm?

The one built for your biggest time sink. For printer work, look at SimplyPrint, Printago or Bambu Farm Manager. For orders, stock, quotes and invoices, look at FoxTrack, Printforge or 3D Print Manager.

Is there one tool that does everything?

Not well, in our view. We found no quotes or invoices in the printer tools, and no slicing in the shop tools. Printago and FoxTrack each go a little way into the other's job.

Do I need print farm software with only a few printers?

Not always. With two or three printers and a few orders a week, a spreadsheet can hold up. Software starts to pay when orders have several parts, stock sits in several places or you lose track of due dates.

Where we say we found no feature, we looked for it and did not find it: it may exist, or it may arrive later.
