Account, sign-in and workspaces

Signing in, passwords, two-step verification and your workspaces.

Signing in and signing up

Sign in with your email and password, or with Continue with Google. The same Google button on the sign-in page also creates an account if you do not have one yet. Every new account gets its own personal workspace, so you can start straight away. To join someone else's workspace, use the invite link they send you. A new password needs at least 8 characters when you sign up, change it or reset it. An older, shorter password still signs you in. FoxTrack asks for 8 only when you set a new one.

Forgot your password

On the sign-in page choose Forgot password and enter your email. FoxTrack emails you a reset link, which opens a page where you set a new password. If no email arrives, check the spam folder and that you used the address you signed up with. Accounts created with Google have no FoxTrack password. Sign in with Google instead.

Changing your password, name and signing out

Settings → Account holds your sign-in details:

  • Account shows the email you sign in with, and Change email (see Changing your login email).
  • Two-step verification asks for a code from your phone as well as your password (see Two-step verification).
  • Change password sets a new password of at least 8 characters after you type your current one (or a two-step code when two-step verification is on); you stay signed in on this device.
  • Profile is your display name, the name teammates see across the workspace and on chat history.
  • Where you are signed in lists every browser and phone signed in to your account (see Your devices: seeing them and signing them out).
  • Sign out here, on that same card, signs you out on this device. The workspace menu at the bottom of the sidebar has a Sign out entry too.

Your devices: seeing them and signing them out

Settings → Account → Where you are signed in lists every browser and phone signed in to your account, this one on top. Each row names the browser and system (Chrome on Windows, Safari on iPhone), when it was last seen (this device reads Active now and This device), the day it signed in and the network address it came from, and Two-step when that sign-in passed the code.

Sign out here signs out this device. If a row is one you do not know, or you left yourself signed in on a shared computer or a lost phone, press Sign out other devices. Every other session ends and this one stays signed in. Other devices are signed out within an hour: an app already open there keeps working until its current sign-in runs out. Change your password too if you think someone knows it.

Changing your login email

Settings → Account → Change email, next to the Email field.

  1. Type the new address and press Send link.
  2. Open the link FoxTrack emails to the new address. Sometimes a link also goes to your current address, to make sure the change is yours; then open both.
  3. Until it is confirmed, the Account card says Waiting for you to confirm, with the new address, and you keep signing in with the old one. Once confirmed, you sign in with the new address.

If a link has expired or was already used, ask for a new one the same way. Receipts from the payment provider for your plan keep going to the address you paid with.

Two-step verification

Two-step verification asks for a 6-digit code from an app on your phone each time you sign in, as well as your password, so someone who learns your password still cannot get in. It is set per person, not per workspace.

To turn it on, go to Settings → Account → Two-step verification and press Turn on. Scan the QR code with any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, Authy and others), or type the key shown under it into the app. Keep that key somewhere safe (a password manager, or on paper in a drawer). If you lose your phone, typing the key into an authenticator app on a new phone makes the same codes, so you get back in without waiting for us. Enter the code the app shows and press Turn on. Turning it on signs you out on your other devices, so they ask for the code too.

When you sign in, after your password or Continue with Google, an Enter your code screen asks for the code from the app. Opening an invite link or a password reset link asks for it as well.

Right after you turn two-step on, FoxTrack makes eight one-time recovery codes for the day your phone is gone and shows them once, in the Your recovery codes dialog, with Copy and Download as text. Keep them somewhere safe, away from the phone. The dialog closes only with I saved them. The card then says how many are left (6 of 8 codes left). Make new codes asks first, then replaces every unused code with eight new ones; with none left the button reads Make recovery codes.

To turn it off, press Turn off on the same card, type a code from your authenticator app and press Turn off to confirm. You sign in with only your password again.

If the phone is gone, press Lost your phone? Use a recovery code on the Enter your code screen and type one of your saved codes (capitals, spaces and dashes do not matter). Each code works once, and five tries are allowed every 15 minutes. FoxTrack lets you in and turns two-step off for your account. A message says Two-step login is off. Set it up again under Account: turn it on with your new phone, which gives you new recovery codes too. If you kept the setup key instead, typing it into an authenticator app on the new phone shows your codes again. With neither, email info@foxtrack.studio from your account email and FoxTrack will help you back in.

Themes

FoxTrack has four themes. Paper, the default, is light; Forest, Ink and Dusk are dark. Pick one with the palette button in the top bar, or under Settings → Account → Appearance. The choice is stored in this browser only, so each device is set separately, and clearing browser data puts it back to Paper.

Switching and creating workspaces

Open the workspace menu at the bottom of the sidebar (it shows the current workspace name and your email). Other workspaces you belong to are listed there; click one to switch. Create workspace makes a new, empty workspace with you as owner. How many workspaces you may own depends on the plan you pay for: Free and Pro allow one, Farm allows two. Being a co-owner of a Farm workspace someone else pays for does not count, so you may own one. The menu says so when the limit is reached. Each workspace has its own data, settings, team and plan.

Leaving a workspace

Under Settings → Team, the row with your own name has a Leave workspace button. The last owner cannot leave; make someone else an owner first, or delete the workspace instead.

Product emails and unsubscribing

Every account gets a few short setup emails in its first two weeks (the ones about making a first order stop once you save one), and an email when the Terms or Privacy Policy change in a way that matters. Product updates and guides on running a 3D printing business go only to people who ask: check Email me product updates on the sign-up page, or enter your email in the form on the home page (or at /newsletter) and press the link in the confirmation email. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Unsubscribing does not change your account or your sign-in emails. Deleting your account also removes you from every list.

Deleting your account

Deleting your account is permanent. FoxTrack refuses it while a workspace you own would be left without an owner, or while a plan billed to you still renews.

Settings → Account has Delete account, shown to every signed-in user. It permanently deletes your FoxTrack account and signs you out at once. Type DELETE to confirm; it cannot be undone.

Your personal workspace (the one made when you signed up) is deleted with it when nobody else is in it. If another owner shares it, it stays for them and you are only removed. If teammates use it but none is an owner, the delete is refused until you make one of them an owner under Settings → Team, or remove them. If you are the only owner of any other workspace, make someone else an owner or delete that workspace first; until then the account is not deleted. Workspaces that have another owner are left in place for them.

If a plan billed to you is still renewing, on your personal workspace, on one you leave behind or on any workspace you are in, cancel it under that workspace's Settings → Billing first. Deleting your account is refused until you do. A plan already set to end, or a lifetime plan, does not block it. On an older plan where FoxTrack cannot tell who pays, a workspace you leave behind counts as yours to cancel: cancel it, or email info@foxtrack.studio if another owner pays for it.

Still stuck?

Email info@foxtrack.studio or ask on the FoxTrack Discord. Inside the app, the question mark in the top bar sends a bug report or feedback.
